Abstract

This research explores innovative strategies employed by educators to introduce the concepts of halal and haram foods to students in an engaging manner through online puzzle games. This study aims to facilitate a more enjoyable and effective understanding of halal and haram dietary principles among elementary school students. Utilising a classroom action research approach, this study was conducted in a public elementary school in Malang, involving a sample of 30 sixth-grade students. In addition, five students were randomly selected for in-depth interviews to gain insight into their learning experiences with the online puzzle game and to assess any improvements in their knowledge of halal and haram foods. The findings reveal that students demonstrated increased enthusiasm and enjoyment when learning about halal and haram foods through interactive online puzzle games. Furthermore, post-test results and interview feedback indicate a notable improvement in students' comprehension of these dietary guidelines. This study suggests that the use of gamified learning tools, such as online puzzle games, can significantly enhance students' engagement and understanding of culturally significant educational content.
