Abstract

This study aims to improve mathematics learning outcomes on subtraction material through the integration of peace education within the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. The research was motivated by low student achievement and the limited emphasis on character development due to the use of conventional teaching methods. This Classroom Action Research (CAR) was conducted in two cycles involving 25 second-grade students at MI Nurul Hasan, following the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through tests, observation sheets, and documentation. The results show a significant improvement in the average score from 65 (pre-test) to 78 at the end of Cycle I, and 85 at the end of Cycle II. In addition to cognitive gains, students also demonstrated growth in affective and social aspects, as reflected in increased active participation, collaboration, helpfulness, respect for others’ opinions, and tolerance. The study concludes that integrating peace education within the PBL model is effective in enhancing learning outcomes while fostering positive student character. This approach is recommended as an innovative strategy for mathematics learning that supports the development of 21st-century skills
