The role of religion in shaping and sustaining global peace has become a significant topic of discussion across various interdisciplinary studies, ranging from theology and sociology to international relations. Although often associated with conflict and violence throughout human history, religion inherently contains universal values that promote solidarity, social justice, reconciliation, and nonviolence. This article aims to critically explore the role of religion as an instrument of peace in the contemporary context marked by identity conflicts, social polarization, and structural violence. By examining sacred texts, ethical teachings from major religious traditions, and empirical studies on faith-based peace initiatives, this paper asserts that religion is not merely a cultural construct but a moral and spiritual force capable of strengthening social cohesion and fostering intergroup dialogue. Through a multidisciplinary approach, the author proposes a conceptual framework that positions religion as a normative actor in conflict resolution and the construction of inclusive and sustainable peace. This study concludes that peace rooted in religious values is more likely to take hold within societies because it resonates with the deepest dimensions of personal identity and moral motivation. Therefore, the role of religion in peace processes cannot be overlooked but must be constructively mobilized through education, interfaith dialogue, and cross-sector collaboration.
