Abstract

History of Islamic Culture is a subject that contains a lot of historical stories from the past and in the learning process there is more storytelling, tends to be passive and monotonous, giving rise to a lack of interest in studying the History of Islamic Culture among students. On this basis, this research was carried out with the aim of developing learning media in the form of doratoon-based animated videos as an innovative learning media for the History of Islamic Culture at the junior high school level. The method used in this research is based on the theory put forward by Borg & Gall. To obtain data, researchers used data collection techniques in the form of questionnaires and interviews. These two instruments are used to determine the validity or suitability of the media that has been developed. The results of research in the field state that this animated video media is considered valid. This is based on a material expert assessment of 84% in the very feasible category, and a media expert assessment of 69% in the appropriate category. Meanwhile, the field trial stage was carried out in class VIII of SMP Islam Islam Harapan Denanyar with a total of 20 students. The results of the assessment questionnaire for students stated that the media developed received a score of 88%, so it was categorized as very feasible. Thus, Doratoon-based animated learning video products are suitable for use for public learning for individuals and groups
