PLAGIARISM POLICY

The Editorial Board of G-Tech: Jurnal Teknologi Terapan acknowledges that plagiarism is unacceptable and has established the following policy to specify the actions (penalties) when plagiarism is identified in a submitted article to our journal.

Definition: Plagiarism is the act of intentionally or unintentionally obtaining or attempting to obtain credit or value for a scholarly work by quoting part or all of someone else's work or scholarly content, recognized as their own, without properly and adequately citing the source.

Policy:

  1. Originality Requirement: Articles must be original, unpublished, and not under review or awaiting publication elsewhere. Material taken verbatim from other sources needs to be clearly identified so it is distinguishable from the original text.

  2. Penalties for Plagiarism:

    • Minor Plagiarism: Copying short sentences from other articles without citing the source. Action: The author will be given a warning and asked to revise the text and provide proper citations.
    • Major Plagiarism: Copying substantial portions of other articles without proper citations and not acknowledging the source. Action: The submitted article will be rejected for publication in G-Tech: Journal of Applied Technology, and the author may face a ban from publishing in G-Tech.
    • Repeated Offenses: If an article is found to be plagiarized, all authors will face the same penalties. If an author is found to have submitted the same manuscript to G-Tech and another journal simultaneously, and this overlap is discovered during the review process or after publication, the same actions as in point 2 will be applied.

  3. Plagiarism Check: Editors will conduct a plagiarism check using TURNITIN software for submitted articles before sending them to reviewers. If an article has a similarity index of more than 20%, it will be rejected or returned for revision. Authors can resubmit or revise the article after ensuring the similarity index is less than 20% for total similarity and less than 2% for any single source/reference list.
