Abstract

Advances in digital technology necessitate the strengthening of digital literacy from primary school age onwards, so that pupils are able to use technology safely, wisely and productively. This community engagement initiative aims to enhance the understanding and digital literacy skills of pupils at MI Al Munawwar, Kepuh Village, Palimanan Sub-district, Cirebon Regency, through interactive technology-based learning. The implementation method utilised a participatory qualitative descriptive approach, comprising stages of socialisation and observation, interactive training and education, the application of learning technology, mentoring and evaluation, and programme sustainability. The activities involved senior-year pupils and teachers as partners in the programme’s sustainability. Evaluation results showed that 83% of pupils achieved a good understanding of digital literacy, internet ethics and digital security, whilst 76% of pupils were able to practise the use of digital media for educational activities. This capacity-building programme utilised interactive digital media, including presentation slides, educational videos and application simulations. Teachers also received guidance on integrating digital media into their teaching in line with the requirements of the Merdeka Curriculum. The programme demonstrated that technology-based interactive learning effectively enhances primary school pupils’ participation, motivation and digital awareness on a sustainable basis
