The publication of an article in a peer-reviewed scholarly journal constitutes an essential contribution to the development of a coherent, credible, and sustainable body of scientific knowledge. Published articles reflect the quality of the authors' scholarly work and the institutions that support them. The peer-review process is an integral component of the scientific method and serves to ensure the quality and integrity of scholarly publications. Therefore, all parties involved in the publication process—including authors, editors, reviewers, publishers, and the academic community—are expected to adhere to the highest standards of publication ethics.

As the publisher, the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Islam Raden Rahmat Malang, through the Department of Islamic Banking, assumes full responsibility for maintaining the integrity of every stage of the publication process. Furthermore, the Department of Islamic Banking, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Islam Raden Rahmat Malang, together with the Editorial Board of MJ Bahrain: Journal of Islamic Finance and Accounting, will cooperate with other journals and publishers whenever necessary to facilitate communication and resolve issues related to publication ethics.

Publication Decisions

The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for determining which submitted manuscripts should be published based on recommendations from the editorial board and peer reviewers. Such decisions are made in accordance with applicable legal requirements concerning defamation, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. In making publication decisions, the Editor-in-Chief consults with the editorial team and reviewers.

Non-Discrimination

Editors and reviewers evaluate manuscripts solely on the basis of their academic merit and intellectual content, regardless of the authors' race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, nationality, or political philosophy.

Confidentiality

Editors, reviewers, and editorial staff must maintain the confidentiality of all information regarding submitted manuscripts. Such information may only be disclosed to the corresponding author, reviewers, prospective reviewers, editorial staff, and the publisher, as appropriate throughout the editorial process.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used by editors or reviewers for their own research purposes without the explicit written consent of the author.

Duties and Responsibilities of Reviewers

Contribution to Editorial Decisions

The journal employs a double-blind peer-review process. Reviewers provide recommendations to the Editor-in-Chief regarding editorial decisions. The Editor-in-Chief communicates with authors when necessary and assists them in improving the quality of their manuscripts.

Timeliness

The editorial team is committed to conducting the review process promptly. If a reviewer is unable to complete the review within the specified timeframe, the manuscript will be reassigned to another reviewer with appropriate expertise.

Confidentiality

All manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. Under the double-blind review system, except for the Editor-in-Chief, editors and reviewers must not discuss the manuscript with anyone, including the authors.

Standards of Objectivity

Editors and reviewers must evaluate manuscripts objectively based solely on their scholarly content. Comments should be expressed professionally and respectfully. Reviewers should provide clear and well-supported reasons for all recommendations and decisions.

Acknowledgement of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published works that have not been cited by the authors. Any statement, observation, derivation, or argument that has been previously reported should be accompanied by an appropriate citation. Reviewers should also notify the editor of any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under review and any other published work of which they are aware.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Information or ideas obtained through the peer-review process must be kept confidential and must not be used for personal advantage. Reviewers should decline to review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest arising from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with any of the authors, institutions, or organizations associated with the manuscript.

Duties and Responsibilities of Authors

Reporting Standards

Authors should present an accurate account of the research conducted and provide an objective discussion of its significance. The underlying data should be presented accurately. A manuscript should contain sufficient detail and references to permit replication where applicable. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior and are unacceptable.

Data Access and Retention

Authors may be requested to provide the raw data associated with their manuscript for editorial review and should be prepared to make such data available within a reasonable period if requested.

Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must ensure that their work is entirely original. Where the work or ideas of others have been used, appropriate citation or quotation must be provided. Manuscripts found to contain plagiarism will be rejected immediately, and the corresponding author will be informed of the editorial decision.

Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication

When submitting a manuscript, the corresponding author must confirm that the manuscript has not been previously published and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Simultaneous submission of the same manuscript to more than one journal constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.

Acknowledgement of Sources

Authors should appropriately acknowledge the work of others that has influenced or supported the research reported in the manuscript. All relevant publications must be cited accurately.

Authorship

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made a significant scholarly contribution to the reported research. The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all co-authors are informed about the progress of the review process. Upon acceptance of the manuscript, all authors must confirm in writing that the work is original and that they agree to its publication.

Hazards and Human or Animal Subjects

If the research involves chemicals, procedures, or equipment that pose unusual hazards, the authors must clearly identify these in the manuscript. Likewise, research involving human participants or animals must be conducted in accordance with recognized ethical standards and applicable regulations.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

All authors must disclose any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest that could influence the results or interpretation of their research. All sources of financial support for the research must also be clearly acknowledged in the manuscript.

Fundamental Errors in Published Works

When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in a published work, the author has an obligation to promptly notify the editor or publisher and cooperate fully in the process of correcting or retracting the article in accordance with the journal's established procedures.
